At Circles & Cycles, the Open House is envisioned as an invitation into a living, breathing learning environment—where families are welcomed in a child’s journey of discovery.
The day begins with Circle Time, a cherished ritual that reflects the rhythm of the classroom—where children gather, share, listen, and co-construct meaning together. From here, parents are immersed in the philosophy of the Reggio Emilia approach, where the environment is thoughtfully designed as the “third teacher,” provoking curiosity, wonder, and exploration.
Discussing the importance of carefully curated provocations, children engage with materials, colours, and textures—expressing ideas, asking questions, and building understanding through hands-on experiences. Emphasis is placed on collaboration, communication, and problem-solving, as learning unfolds in relationship with others.
We explore the significance of following the child’s lead—honouring their interests, questions, and theories as the foundation of meaningful learning. Documentation becomes a powerful tool in this journey, making visible the children’s thinking and allowing educators and families to reflect on the “how,” “what,” and “why” of each experience.
Parents are also introduced to our integrated programs, including Occupational Therapy and Therapaws, which support the holistic development of each child, nurturing emotional, social, and sensory growth.
The experience concludes with a walk through the school—spaces alive with children’s voices, ideas, and creations—leaving families with a sense of connection, possibility, and the joy that defines life at Circles & Cycles.
